Astrology Methodology & Calculation Principles

Transparent, verifiable astronomical algorithms based on Drik Ganita and Chitrapaksha (Lahiri) Ayanamsa.

1. Ephemeris & Astronomical Coordinates (Drik Ganita)

Sanatan Drip implements the Drik Siddhanta (Drik Ganita) system of astronomical calculations. In ancient times, Sage Varahamihira and later Bhaskara II emphasized that astrological charts must match observable astronomical reality. Our planetary positions reflect high-precision planetary coordinates computed against Universal Time (UTC) and translated to Indian Standard Time (IST) and local coordinates.

2. Ayanamsa Standard (Chitrapaksha / Lahiri)

Because of the precession of the equinoxes (~50.29 arcseconds per year), sidereal (Vedic) astrology subtracts an Ayanamsa offset from the tropical positions. Sanatan Drip uses the Chitrapaksha Ayanamsa (commonly known as Lahiri Ayanamsa), which is officially endorsed by the Indian Calendar Reform Committee and standard worldwide.

3. Ashta Koota Matchmaking Mathematics

Our Kundli Matching engine follows the classical 36-Guna scoring matrix codified in the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra: Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7), and Nadi (8). Special attention is given to standard cancellation rules (Parihara) for Nadi and Bhakoot doshas to prevent unnecessary fear or distress.

4. Editorial Standards & Ethical Boundaries

We reject fatalistic, alarmist claims. Vedic Jyotish is fundamentally a science of karmic guidance, promoting self-awareness, personal responsibility, and spiritual remedies (Sattvic lifestyle, devotion, and virtuous conduct).
